Holding On to Summer: Why August Feels Different
There’s something special about August in Alberta. The days are still warm, the evenings stretch just a little longer, and every sunset feels like a gentle reminder to slow down. It’s the month where we begin to realize that summer won’t last forever, making every campfire, walk, patio visit, and weekend adventure feel a little more meaningful.
At Made by CJ, August is also a season of transition. Lightweight sweaters become evening essentials, layering starts to return, and one-of-a-kind pieces find their place between warm afternoons and cool prairie nights. These are the clothes that tell stories—crafted to be worn through changing seasons and cherished for years to come.
As summer begins to fade, I’m choosing gratitude over rushing ahead. Gratitude for Alberta’s beautiful landscapes, for evenings spent with family and friends, and for the opportunity to create clothing that celebrates both sustainability and timeless style. There’s beauty in every season, but there’s something especially sweet about holding onto summer just a little longer.
So before autumn arrives, take the scenic drive, stay up for the sunset, gather around one more campfire, and wear the pieces that make you feel most like yourself. Summer may be coming to an end, but the memories—and the stories woven into what we wear—will last far beyond the season.
